Oscar Fever !!

Gloomy movies may have seized the spotlight at this year's Academy Awards, but it was bold, vivid red that reigned on the Oscar red carpet and cut through the cold gray of a rare rainy day in Hollywood.Under plastic sheeting above the red carpet, stars like Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Miley Cyrus, Katherine Heigl and Heidi Klum stood out with varying hues of crimson on their elaborate gowns. Many of the dresses were in deep, dramatic red, evoking the brooding themes of revenge, despair and doomed love in best film nominees like "Atonement," "Michael Clayton" and "There Will Be Blood."

Historical View....

Jodha Akbar
There was a buzz in the air.
And this time it was neither Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om nor Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya causing the stir.
Rather, it was Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar, which was about the epic love story between Emperor Akbar and a certain Rajput princess, that was causing a stir at the Adlabs theatre in Mumbai's Film City.
The occasion? The director was hosting the first ever preview of his huge film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Jodhaa Akbar is scheduled for release on January 25.
Judging from the preview, the film holds a lot of promise. The promos sees Hrithik dressed in various avatars of the Emperor with A R Rahman's song, Marhaba, playing in the background. One scene sees him taming an elephant, while another sees meeting Ash for marriage.
Ash, on the other hand, doesn't speak much and is shown dressed in fine bridal wear, getting ready for her grand wedding.

Katrina An Successful Actress......

Katrina Kaif is currently riding high. After all, she was one of the most successful actresses of last year with her films Namastey London., Welcome and Partner becoming blockbusters. The stunning looking actress has now reportedly bagged a 2-film deal with Studio 18 for an astronomical amount of Rs.6 crores. While neither Katrina nor Sandeep Bhargava (CEO-Studio 18) denied this, they were not really willing to reveal much about the deal. Katrina who has already worked in Studio 18's films like Welcome, Namastey London and the forthcoming Singh Is Kinng seemed excited at the prospect of continuing the association. Well, with a lot of big releases like Abbas Mustan's Race and even Subhash Ghai's Yuvraaj already in her kitty, this 'Kool Kat' is surely making hay while the sun shines brightly on her.

Valentine Special.....

Lovers across the country celebrated Valentine's Day on Thursday, expressing their feelings for their dear ones with cards, flowers, jewellery and chocolates, defying protests in several places by saffron and radical groups who dubbed the occasion as "alien culture."
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who has been leading the moral brigade in attacking Valentine's Day celebrations in Maharashtra, termed the occasion as "a rotten imported culture thriving on the neo-rich with easy money to squander." He asked his 'sainiks' to oppose the celebrations which are "encouraged by commercial considerations."
There were protests by the Sena, Bajrang Dal, Akhil Bhartiya Maratha Mahasangh and Students Islamic Organisation, among others, in Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Mumbai and Coimbatore. The radical women's group Dukhtaran-e-Millat conducted "peaceful raids" in Srinagar's restaurants and shops and asked lovers to leave those places.
Nearly 44 saffron activists were arrested by police in Indore for staging protests against the celebration of Valentine's Day.
However, despite all the opposition, lovers were undeterred.
Most educational institutions, parks, malls and restaurants played cupid to dreamy-eyed pairs as they took the opportunity to express their feelings.
Shops and restaurants also tried to lure in the lovers by offering special schemes while television and radio channels played love songs and special programmes throughout the day to mark the occasion.

Hey baby -Review

Movie Heyy Babyy
Director Sajid Khan
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala
Music Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonca
Cast Ritesh Deshmukh, Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan,Boman Irani,Amisha Patel, Koena Mitra, Dia Mirza
When one sits on the fence and analyzes movies, passing scathing and acidic comments on all and sundry, be it films or those associated with it, the same people you'd targeted are bound to examine your film with a magnifying glass, when they get an opportunity.
Sajid Khan is known for his funny-n-witty repartees and in his first major project Heyy Babyy, he not only merges funny situations and emotional moments with aplomb, but also makes a compelling, wholesome film.
Heyy Babyy is not completely Three Men and a Baby. Sure, you draw parallels, since both Three Men and a Baby and Heyy Babyyrevolve around a trio of confirmed bachelors, who unexpectedly discover the joys of fatherhood when a baby is left at their doorstep but the similarities end there. In fact, the promos in this case don't open the cards completely. There's more to this film than masti-mazaak and the three men chasing girls of all shapes and sizes.
Heyy Babyy also works because the script is believable and the journey from Scene A to Z is well structured. Of course, there're minor aberrations, but the finale packs in a solid punch.
Sajid Khan is a skilled storyteller. Although he's known for impromptu, funny one-liners, it's the handling of the emotional moments in the enterprise that catches you by complete surprise. Another aspect where a director makes all the difference: Akshay, Fardeen and Ritesh have been a part of comic capers in the past, but after having watched this trio in Heyy Babyy, not once do you feel that they're repeating themselves.
Heyy Babyy promises entertainment unlimited and delivers it with aplomb. Do carry your kerchief along. It makes you laugh, it makes you moist-eyed. This Babyy rocks!
Three bachelors, Aroush (Akshay Kumar), Tanmay (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Ali (Fardeen Khan) are having the time of their lives in Sydney. They flirt around, sleep around and have numerous 'gorgeous' conquests to their credit.
They suddenly find their dating and mating rituals irreparably destroyed when a dimpled little roommate lands up on their doorstep. Aroush, Tanmay and Ali know a thing or two about women, but when it comes to babies, they're total zeroes and this bouncing bundle of joy is anything but joyous. But then Angel works her charm and before long, the three lecherous bachelors have been transformed into loving, caring fathers.
But beautiful Esha (Vidya Balan) will have none of it. She has known heart break once and will do anything to avenge that betrayal. If it means breaking the hearts of three men who've finally discovered they possess one, then too bad!
Sajid Khan wastes no time and comes to the point (the bachelors finding an abandoned baby at their doorstep) at the very start, immediately after their frivolous attitude is exposed in the title track. The sequences with the baby are entertaining, but it's the turning point, when the baby gets critically ill and the guys realize their folly, which is the masterstroke from the writing and execution point of view. The viewer is in for another surprise at the interval point. It takes the story to another high altogether.
The second half starts off well, but loses its shine partly as Fardeen and Ritesh go to lengths to get the baby back. The sequence in the car (Fardeen) is hilarious, but not the entire track. The sequences in Wonderland and also when Akshay and Ritesh disguise themselves as Arabs in a restaurant fall flat. Fortunately, Heyy Babyypicks up in the penultimate reels again. The last few minutes make you forget the deficiencies as it races towards a fulfilling finale.
The writing (screenplay: Sajid Khan, Milap Zaveri) hits a high note in the first hour, but should've been as cohesive in the second hour as well. Yet, there are moments in this hour that you carry home. Dialogues (Milap Zaveri) are simple; they don't get flowery at any point. Cinematography (Himman Dhamija) is of superior quality. The stunning locales of Sydney look equally striking on screen.
Musically (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy), it's a hit score. A mix of peppy and melodious numbers, the ones that stand out are the title track (with an array of actresses making fleeting appearances) and 'Mast Kalandar' (SRK rocks).
Akshay is in terrific form. This role offers him ample scope to go beyond the comic roles he specializes in. Sure, he makes you laugh, but he also makes you moist-eyed when he pines for his baby. This is one performance that should find a prominent place in his impressive repertoire.
Fardeen springs a surprise. He hasn't worked in as many comic capers, but handles his part confidently. Ritesh is dependable yet again. The youngster is so comfortable in light roles that even if he sleepwalks, he'd make you giggle. His usage of Marathi in a kiddie party will be greeted with cheers.
Vidya Balan is superb. Not only does she look bewitching, but also enacts her part with amazing ease. A highly competent actress, she's got all it takes to reach the top slot. Boman Irani doesn't get much footage, but makes his presence felt in the introductory sequence mainly. The baby is simply adorable.
On the whole, Heyy Babyy is an entertainer that has something for everyone. At the box-office, it has the potential to rock big time. The fantastic opening of the film has only proved sone pe suhaaga…

Om Shanti Om-Paisa Vasool.........

Movie Om Shanti Om
Director Farah Khan
Producer Shah Rukh Khan
Music Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani
Cast Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shreyas Talpade, Kirron Kher, Bindu
Cut the crap, cut the gyan-baazi, cut the will-it-won't-it work naatak. Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om is a true-blue masala entertainer. If Main Hoon Na was a chauka, this one hits a sixer!
Wait, a word of advice to all netizens/readers across the globe. Don't, for God's sake don't, raise exclamations like kab?, kyun? kahan? as Om Shanti Om begins to unravel. This is atypical Manmohan Desai film presented in a novel avtaar by Farah Khan. It's definitely not for pseudos or advocates of arthouse cinema.
Special: Om Shanti Om
Now let's clear some myths surrounding Om Shanti Om. Is it the 2007 adaptation of Subhash Ghai's immensely likable reincarnation film Karz? Does it have traces of Kudrat? Or Madhumati? Or Milan? Or Karan Arjun? Hold on, there's a dash of Karz, a bit of Karan Arjun, a sprinkling of Kudrat, but beyond that it's a film that makes you nostalgic about 1970s Bollywood.
To sum up, Om Shanti Om is paisa vasool entertainment. We haven't seen SRK in a hardcore masala film since quite some time. He had drifted to other genres, which proved his range as an actor of repute and cemented his status further. With Om Shanti Om, he gives back to the audience what he himself grew up on -- a thorough entertainer that will have the audience thirsting for more.
Om Shanti Om tells the story of Om [Shah Rukh Khan] and Shanti [Deepika Padukone]. Om is a junior artist in the 70s. Shanti is the reigning superstar. He is her biggest fan. He is in love with her. Om dreams of being a superstar, but an incident changes his life forever.
Om dies in a mishap, but is reborn into the present day. He attempts to discover the mystery of his demise…
The general feeling is, Farah Khan has remade Ghai's Karz from Frame A to Z. False! There're similarities, but it's not a rehashed version of Ghai's film. For, Om Shanti Om takes you by complete surprise at several points.
The first twist in the tale [Arjun - Deepika's heated confrontation, with SRK listening to this important conversation] comes as a bolt from the blue. The second jhatka comes slightly before the intermission, when Arjun takes Deepika to the set of his film Om Shanti Omand the entire episode that follows, right till the intermission, is spellbinding. That's a brilliant stroke from the writing [screenplay: Mushtaq Shaikh and Farah Khan] as also the execution point of view. When the opulent set is set to flames, it leaves you wide-eyed and awe-struck. Such is the impact!
The post-interval portions only get better and better! If the initial portions are laced with humour [the premiere of Dreamy Girl, the Manoj Kumar episode, Ghai directing Rishi on Om Shanti Omsong, et al], the second half moves into a new zone completely.
It's punar-janam now, but thankfully, there're no lightening, no fireworks, no zooming of the camera on the idols of Gods. The drama builds up gradually. The voices that SRK keeps hearing, the 'fire' soon after the Dard-E-Disco track, the mother [Kirron Kher], an old lady now, chasing Om's car [reminds you of Raakhee of Karan Arjun], the flashes of SRK's earlier birth while receiving the Filmfare Award -- the incidents that make him realize that his life was cut short in his earlier janam have been well structured.
When Deepika re-emerges as well, the viewer is confused, but the mystery is resolved towards the end, which, again, takes you by complete surprise.
Given the fact that Om Shanti Om is a Manmohan Desai kind of a film set in the present-day, it would be foolhardy to ask questions, raise eyebrows and look for logic. But the second half could've been crisper [length: 18 reels/2.46 hours], although Shirish Kunder's editing is perfect.
Farah knows what her priorities are and most importantly, knows exactly what her target audience is. The execution of a number of sequences clearly shows Farah's growth as a storyteller. Mushtaq and Farah's writing works because the writers pull out several surprises in those 2.46 hours.
V. Manikanandan's cinematography captures the gloss and grandeur to the minutest. The opulent sets [Sabu Cyril] deserve distinction marks. Dialogues [Mayur Puri] are witty and do raise a chuckle at several points. Background score [Sandeep Chowta] is effective.
Vishal-Shekhar's music is first-rate. The score is in sync with the content of the film and what accentuate the goings-on are the choreography and execution. Although every song is visually enticing, the 21-star track as also Dard-E-Disco will have the masses going into a frenzy.
Now to the performances! SRK proves his supremacy yet again. If you thought that playing to the gallery came easy to certain actors only, watch SRK spin magic in Om Shanti Om. He's magnificent, the star attraction, the soul of this film, the true baadshah.
Deepika has all it takes to be a top star -- the personality, the looks and yes, she's supremely talented too. Standing in the same frame as SRK and getting it right is no small achievement. She comes as a whiff of fresh air!
Arjun Rampal is a complete revelation. Cast in a negative role this time, he enacts his part with panache and style. Shreyas Talpade is another surprise. A complete natural, he stands on his feet all through, not getting swayed while sharing the screen space with the topmost star.
Kirron Kher is superb as the over the top mom. Javed Sheikh is alright. Bindu adds to the funny moments.
On the whole, Om Shanti Om is Bollywood masala in its truest form and also, at its best. At the box-office, the film will set new records in days to come and has the power to emerge one of the biggest hits of SRK's career. Blockbuster hit!

One of ExtraOrdinary Film made in Tamil....

Movie Indiralokathil Na Azhagappan
Director Thambi Ramiah
Producer Manickam Narayanan
Music Sabesh Murali
Cast Vadivel, Nassar, Sumitra, Shriya
Post Your Review
By Moviebuzz

-->
The laugh on us! Vadivel's Indiralokathil Na Azhagappan fail to make you laugh, actually it make you squirm uncomfortably in your seat for nearly 2 hours and 35 minutes! Welcome to the celestial world of Indiran and Yama, where a common man Azhagappan goes on a guided tour with Rambha.
Vadivel in one of his interviews has said that he had "to skip 22 films to do INA"! Anybody who understands what makes a comedy film work with the viewers would not have done this travesty of a film. What does the audience except from a Vadivel film? A basic story line like Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi and lots of comedy scenes which will make you laugh. Instead writer and director Thambi Ramiah has dished out a fantasy film with a skewered message!
Vadivel: 'I enjoy making people laugh on screen'
The film lacks comedy and a cohesive plot. It is a lot of mumbo-jumbo about nothing. Azhagappan (Vadivelu) runs his own drama troupe with his set of friends and lives with his loving mom (Sumitra). One day celestial beauties- Urvasi, Ramba and Thilothama, visit earth, Rambha loses her way (!!) and due to circumstances Azhagappan marries her. Later Rambha takes him to Indiralokam (heaven). Azhagappan is shocked and distressed to find the conditions prevailing in Yamalokam(hell) and does his best to redeem it.
The film tries to sell the message- "Do good, Be a good person and only good will happen to you".
We hope that Indiralokathil Na Azhagappan was merely a mad film. Mad can be entertaining if it is done intelligently. But the problem with this film is that it hardly raises any laugh and the script is so weak. Sadly you have no words of praise for Vadivel who can't rise above the flawed script. He hams it up, is loud, overacts and over-the-top style of delivering dialogues especially in the scenes in hell as Yama.
After watching the film, it feels like you've been trapped in there for what seems like a lifetime. None of the songs are shot spectacularly, the sets looks artificial and Shriya’s much hyped item number as a witch doctor falls flat. All blame for this disappointing film is the screenplay which is clichéd, unimaginative and amateurish to say the least.
On the whole, Indiralokathil Na Azhagappan is a tough pill to swallow, as it is so damn boring. Don't go in expecting too much, perhaps you won't be too disappointed.

Lesson Learned....

Rakhi Sawant
The whole of last year, Rakhi has a bad habit—promising not to appear on any more reality shows and then appearing in ‘one last show’, crying foul over the format of the show and finally going to her favourite 'MIDIA' with her baliye Abhishek in tow. Rakhi darling, your good old friend Mika has shifted his focus to his work and the results are there for all to see—chartbusters like Mauja Hi Mauja and Aye Ganpat. Why don't you learn a lesson or two from him and start focusing on the ‘bigger and better’.

Chemistry Between Saif & Kareena......

Are Saif and Kareena married? Headlines Today this morning was filled with the news that a Mumbai paper had broken the story that they had gotten married on Wednesday night at 12 30 at Saif's new Bandra flat. The biggest scoop of the year!
So is it true? Are they married? While Soha Ali Khan denies the marriage, her mother Sharmila Tagore says she doesnt know if Saif is married. But people say that this is what Saif did with ex-wife Amrita too - one day, he just got married to her and then broke the news to his parents.

The speculation about the Saif-Kareena marriage has been doing the rounds for a while - first he has a huge tattoo on his hand and then Kareena walks around sporting a huge and I mean huge Rs 1 crore solitaire ring on the engagement finger. When asked if she was getting married to Saif by the end of the year, Kareena denied it saying - not for another five years. And when asked more questions on Saif's tattoo, she said it's been spoken about enough so no comments.
According to people or rumours, astrologer Pandit Suvashtiraj told Saif he needed to gift her a diamond ring to strengthen their relationship. And well strengthen it did - it led to marriage supposedly!!!It seems Sharmila and Pataudiji are happy with Kareena while Kareena's family initially had some objection. But now they too have consented. I wonder if this story is true and if Saif and Kareena will now come out in the open and admit or deny it. We'll just have to wait for more breaking news through the day I guess! And I'll keep you guys updated on any news I find!!!

***Happy Valentine Day***

Titanic (1997)
Titanic, the ship of dreams, was called the unsinkable on its departure on April 10, 1912. And on its epic journey a poor artist named Jack Dawson and a rich girl Rose DeWitt Bukator fall in love, until one night, their fairytale love turns into a struggle for survival on a ship about to fall through to the bottom of the North Atlantic.
Beautifully crafted, taut and perfect, Titanic leaves no loopholes. Leonardo Di Caprio as Jack is fiery and charming yet mature; a man who believes in living every moment to the fullest. Kate Winslet’s Rose is beautiful, strong, passionate and a woman of substance. The way the love story culminated in a catastrophe is phenomenal. Their love seems improbable at first, but after they meet, inevitable.
True Love never fails.......
wishing a happy & Dynamic Valentine Day........

***finally Munnabhai Married Manyata ***

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and his long-time girlfriend Manyata on Monday solemnised their marriage as per Hindu rituals at a simple ceremony, four days after their secret court wedding in Goa.
Ending all speculation, Dutt (48) and Manyata Dilnasheen Amir Ahmed Sheikh (32) exchanged their nuptial vows at the bride's residence at suburban Versova.
The formal wedding was attended by close friends. However, Dutt's family members, including sisters Priya Dutt and Namrata Gaurav, were conspicuous by their absence.
After the marriage, a beaming Dutt, wearing a golden hued kurta-pyjama with a red embroidered 'chunri,' said he was very happy and thanked all his fans.
Lobbing a question at the media, Dutt asked: "Are you happy with my marriage?" On getting an affirmative reply, he thanked them and said, "I am also very happy and I thank you for the positive support."
Manyata, who appeared overwhelmed by the occasion, said, "I am so happy that I don't have words to express."
Manyata looked every inch a typical Indian bride with her forehead and her hair parting full of sindoor.
Asked about his daughter Trishala's reaction, Dutt paused and said, "She is happy."
Trishala (18) was born out of Dutt's first wife Richa Sharma, who died of cancer. She is abroad and told a TV channel "I have nothing to say."
Dutt, whose second marriage to model Rhea Pillai ended in a divorce, is now on bail pending appeal in the Supreme Court in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
According to industry sources, Sanjay married Manyata at a five star hotel in Goa before a registrar on February 7 under the Special Marriage Act with a few close friends as witness.
Priya Dutt said she was happy for her brother but claimed she was not aware of the marriage.
hmmm.....Wish sanju bhai a happy married life...........

See Mallika Sherawat in Hollywood !!!

Bollywood siren, Mallika Sherawat, who earlier acted in an international production, The Myth, alongside Jackie Chan will now star in an American film called The Aquarian Gospel.
The film is based on Jesus Christ's life (especially his early years) and will be directed by Australian filmmaker, Drew Heriot, who earlier directed the smash hit docu-feature, The Secret.
There has been a belief that Christ, between the age of 13 yrs and 30 yrs, traveled through India, Tibet, Persia, Greece and Egypt. Mallika would be playing the role of Saraswati, one of Yeshua's (Jesus) loyal friends whom he meets while he travels through India.
Interestingly, Mallika even played an Indian princess from the period era in The Myth which bombed at the box-office. In fact, Mallika's appearance after all the hue and cry was just a blink and a miss kind of a role.
Well, let's see if Madame Sherawat has a better and bigger role this time.
Best of Luck to Mallika!!!
